Our History

Explorers Schools opened its doors in 2007, when 2 passionate Montessorians, Kamilla Kirpalani and Karine McVeigh, dreamed of creating the first truly Montessori school in West Africa.

What started with only 12 students in the backyard of a house grew into one of the best early years and primary schools in Ghana. In 2009, Little Explorers gained its UK STAR Accreditation (formerly known as Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation Board), which was renewed in 2024. In 2019, Explorers Schools attained IQAA, South Africa Validation which it will renew in 2024. Following the 2023 launch of Primary Explorers, a full Cambridge International accreditation was awarded in 2024.

Explorers Schools is currently home to 220 pupils from 40+ countries.
